From small beginnings mending clothes at the Wesley Mission, Good Sammy continues to harness the recycling and re-purposing of donated goods to create employment for people with disability.
Good Sammy retail shops save 6000 tonnes of clothing from landfill every year.
The donations we receive from the community do a great deal of good:
- financially sustaining the positive work we do in the community by supporting people living with disability as they work towards meaningful employment
- creating employment in our retail shops and warehouses for our people who collect, sort, display and sell
- creating sales revenue to enable employment and skill building opportunities for our Good Sammy Academy participants, and
- creating revenue from sales to support our scholarship opportunities.
We are always looking to the future and seeking more opportunities to upskill, engage and employ our participants. Building relationships is a key component of creating opportunities for us, so it is with great excitement we extend our recycling effort in 2020 as Super Collectors for the new Containers for Change program coming to WA.
We are thrilled to participate in this program which will Keep Australia Beautiful, clean up the environment and create a further 40 roles for WA people living with disability.
