What can I donate?
You can donate your time (volunteer!), your goods or financially contribute to Good Sammy.
We welcome donations of clean clothing, home-wares, toys, and electrical goods. The quality of your donation is important, so please, deliver in working order, no rips, tears, cracks, chips, or stains. If you are unsure if your donation is acceptable, question if you would give the items to a friend – if the answer is yes, then it is likely we will be able to on sell in our stores.

Is Good Sammy linked to the Salvation Army or The Samaritans?
No, we are not linked to either of these organisations. Good Sammy was established by the Uniting Church (now Uniting WA) in Western Australian with a mission to provide employment opportunities for local people with disability. The Samaritans offer a helpline for people who need someone to talk to and the Salvation Army is a national organisation providing emergency relief, food, and accommodation services.
Are you able to donate clothing or goods to a needy cause or family?
Unlike other charity shops with a welfare focus, Good Sammy’s mission is creating employment for people with disability and all our donations are directed to this end. For this reason, we do not donate goods for free from our shops. Through our Uniting Church affiliation, we do assist in critical circumstances, such as major disasters. If you are seeking welfare support, please contact us for referral to the charity which specialises in your area of need.
Can you give me a discount on this item?
Good Sammy’s pricing structure is competitive with other op shops and we are unable to offer discounts on items unless they are listed as “specials”. Throughout the year, we do hold “50%-off SALE” days – please follow our social media for dates or look out for the advertisement in your local paper.
Are Good Sammy Stores run by volunteers? If so, why can’t you reduce the price a little?
Most Good Sammy staff are paid employees because we exist to provide meaningful jobs for people with disability. We employ experienced, trained staff who work alongside our workers with disabilities, offering support and training options to help them realise their full potential.
If you are interested in joining our volunteer program, please get in touch.
This product was donated to you for free. How do you determine the price?
Our pricing policy reflects all the costs incurred in collecting, processing, cleaning, distributing and then selling our products in the Good Sammy shops. The money we receive from the sale of donations is reinvested to continue providing employment opportunities for people living with disabilities. Good Sammy currently supports more than 265 Western Australians in a variety of jobs from retail assistants in our op shops, to forklift drivers in our warehouse, our truck drivers, and a myriad of roles in between.
